Fox Squirrel Corn Maze Rich With History

For the past seven years, the Futch family has hosted the Fox Squirrel Corn Maze on the Single R Ranch in Plant City, Florida. The history of the land far outdates the maze. The beginning of the story goes all the way back to 1920 when Ralph Futch purchased 2,000 acres of land in Plant City to raise cattle and citrus.

In 1972, Ralph’s son and fifth-generation Floridian Alvin Futch purchased the ranch and cattle operation. When Alvin passed in April 2019 at the age of 87, his children took over operations of the working cattle ranch with the help of his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. This land is where the Fox Squirrel Corn Maze maze comes to life each year.

In 2015, Hillsborough County named the Futch family the Farm Family of the Year. We serve on the board of The Florida Agritourism Association as well as the Hillsborough County Farm Bureau. We are proud to be a part of the agriculture community in Plant City and a longstanding member of this beautiful town.

Best-Kept Secret
While Plant City is known for growing the best strawberries in the country, it also has one of the best family friendly events around. People from all over the country have visited the Fox Squirrel Corn Maze hidden in our little corner of Plant City.

Through the years, guests have participated in events such as dummy calf roping, pumpkin painting, hayrides, face painting, duck races using old fashioned pitcher pumps, cornhole games, a corn box for young children and an enormous slingshot. We’ve also had the privilege of offering delicious food including kettle corn, hamburgers, hotdogs, fresh lemonade, and several other delicacies.

In addition, we post our favorite delicious recipes for strawberry pizza, Aunt B’s upside down apple pie, and Squirrely’s Pumpkin Pie on this website so you can have a little fall fun of your own at home.

The Futch family and Single R Ranch is a vault of hidden treasures just a short drive from Tampa or Orlando. For more information about our corn maze, visit our event page and mark your calendars to attend!
